Cantate Deo Youth Orchestra is holding open auditions for youths from Year 7 until University, to join the Orchestra between April and December this year. In December, players will take part in the End of Year Concert, which aims to share the joys of orchestral music with fellow youths. The concert repertoire includes various classical pieces and hymns. Weekly rehearsals will be held on Saturdays from 11:00am - 1:30pm. In training and preparation for the Concert there will be additional rehearsals, as well as Workshop Days (which are listed on the events table). Players are also invited to serve together in CDYO at various events for IREC Sydney.
Auditions are open for any orchestral instruments, however French Horn, Trumpet, Bassoon, Oboe and Trombone is desired and will be prioritised. Auditions will be held through online video submission, which open on Sunday 12th of March. To register for auditions please fill in the form attached at the bottom of this page. For the audition, players are required to prepare:
- 1x piece (between 2-3 minutes)
- 2x provided excerpt
- 1x scale
Videos must be submitted via email, by Thursday the 6th of April when video submissions close. After registration, further audition information and resources will be shared through email. If the audition is successful, players are also required to take an in person interview with some committee members between April 8th-22nd and pay the joining fee of $300*. A rough event schedule is shared below, if players would like to join for church events (VBS, Concert of Prayer, and Hari Perjuangan) then please reserve the following dates. If not, then please reserve the time around 16th of December for the End of Year Concert.

The year is divided into 4 practice seasons, as seen below. Within each practice season, members of the orchestra must attend at least 85% of all rehearsals in order to play for the event. Members are also expected to attend dress rehearsals. All players are expected to play for the end of year concert.
